I established a personal Minecraft server with port forwarding recently. However, whenever I attempt to connect, my system struggles and I'm disconnected. Following this, my internet connection also fails. It requires a modem restart to restore functionality, and this consistently occurs every time I join the server. What should I do?

My mistake caused a network loop, resulting in my internet connection being lost. To resolve this, I needed to associate my local IP address with a port number. Simultaneously, external players required connecting using my public IP address. This solution has addressed the issue.

Hello! I’m experiencing the identical issue. This began several weeks ago. I frequently utilize my personal Minecraft server, which has functioned flawlessly for three years. However, presently, the only method to connect is via localhost, requiring external IP addresses to be directed elsewhere, or by switching my router to a modem configuration – which subsequently disables Wi-Fi. The core difficulty lies with my younger sibling, as localhost only allows connection from one individual, and I’m unsure why. Consequently, we can no longer play together. I would appreciate it if someone could identify a resolution or determine the origin of this problem. I am using a UPC ConnectBox Router. Thank you.
