I often hear complaints about AM5 online, but reviewers and YouTubers rarely discuss these problems. While some users have faced difficulties, it's unclear if the concerns are exaggerated or realistic. I'm reaching out to those who've used AM5 to share their experiences and any challenges they encountered.
Used AM5 7700x since November without any problems except BIOS settings for MSi Afterburner. No crashes or instability, just smooth boot and great gaming performance. Enabled EXPO at 5600mhz CL36. Supported over 20 AM5 builds; only one 7800X3D issue fixed via BIOS update. Personal recommendation: AM5 is solid. Found some forum discussions about issues, but none directly relevant to my experience.
It slows down a lot when posting, but that’s mostly it. When I first tried, it felt similar to using AM4—just the memory training was slow and the Clear CMOS button wouldn’t cooperate on the Gigabyte board I used (though it seems fixed in newer BIOS updates). Now it works pretty smoothly.
I chose the ASUS TUF B650 PLUS WIFI for my project and about twelve others, while using the Gigabyte Aorus B650 Elite AX for the remaining builds.
Many people rely on AMD while others choose Intel. We discussed a lot in your earlier conversation about concerns—nothing terrible will happen, no one will face starvation, pets won’t disappear, etc. It’s just two different chip makers. My 7700x is running smoothly, along with my 9900k and 10600k systems.
I understand your point, but sharing thoughts here might be useful for others facing similar choices. Building PCs can be costly, and avoiding disappointments is important.
Absolutely, but this discussion will move to page 5 soon. Keeping it focused could be useful.
