I just got an i5 10600k. I picked the k version because it looked really good in many tests that showed it could keep up with an i9 for gaming. My computer setup includes an ASrock extreme z490 motherboard, 3200 Corsair vengeance rgb RAM, and a 650-watt power supply unit. I've tried almost every setting combination you can think of. At first, I went crazy with a 5.0 GHz overclock using a 1.34V vCore and let the motherboard do whatever it wanted for LLC control, just like someone told me to do in a tutorial called "tom's guide." Here is another example from my attempts: 49x All-core ratio, 47x Cache Ratio, Vcore fixed at 1.365, VCCIO set to 1.20v, and VCCSA also at 1.20v. I keep getting BSOD under load with any of these settings like PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA, driver_irql_not_less_or_equal, or system service exception. If I don't fix it, I'll send it back because that's the whole reason I got this K version in the first place. CPUID shows no code name, brand ID, core voltage, and says multiplayer is 170x. Max stock speed under load is just 4.5ghz.

4.5 gets super fast when using many cores, while 4.8 is better if you're only using one core at a time.

This doesn't look right for me. Now it shows a Name, Code Name, Brand ID, Package, core voltage, multiplier x171, and a bus speed of 23.98mhz. This is just out of the box, but with stock parts running at max load, intel says it should go up to 4.8ghz instead of what I see now. Just for curiosity, I tried to overclock, and got the same BSOD again.

I don't know a lot about overclocking, though I could look it up on YouTube... and try starting at regular voltage, then slowly raising it in small steps of 0.1 volts.

Here is a link to an online video for you to watch, but it's still on YouTube so I can't put the actual player here. Just click that link if you want to see what this person is talking about right now!

The fastest option is 4.5 when using all cores and the boost power. If you use just one core, then 4.8 is the higher turbo speed.
