I’m seeking assistance. My Grand Theft Auto San Andreas (including the SAMP add-on) frequently freezes unexpectedly – occasionally locking up completely, preventing any interaction and requiring a system restart. Here are my computer specifications: I have 1GB of DDR2 RAM at 533MHz, an Athlon 64 x2 5000+ processor, and an Nvidia nForce 430 6150se graphics card with 256MB of dedicated memory (though I have a total GPU memory capacity of 600MB, which is partially shared). Is there a solution to this problem? My motherboard is an MSI MS 7309 v1, purchased as OEM. If no solution exists, I’ll need to upgrade my computer hardware.

Note: Could you suggest some compatible graphics cards suitable for upgrading, keeping in mind that my RAM is limited to DDR2 up to 1000MHz with a maximum of 4GB? My game settings are configured for 1280x768 resolution with all visual distance settings set to the lowest possible and other settings at minimum.

This appears to be a graphics card issue. It could also be related to memory. Does this problem occur in other games?

It’s probably a problem with my graphics card, memory, or the game files. I suspect it's most likely a RAM issue.

Would adding an extra gigabyte of memory be beneficial?

Could a different method of assessment be utilized before purchasing replacement components? A process of experimentation and observation could reveal if the issue lies with the memory. Other potential causes might include a malfunctioning hardware element or incompatible software processes. However, your current 1GB of RAM appears to be insufficient for the task.

I’ve been overlooked. The game sometimes freezes in Half-Life 1 during map loading, and it will remain stuck indefinitely, requiring me to restart my computer. Apologies.

I plan to improve my computer's hardware. Will a GeForce 8300GS graphics card and 2 gigabytes of memory be sufficient for running these games smoothly, without experiencing performance issues like lagging or freezing? These components represent the most affordable options I've been able to locate.

P.S: My motherboard (MSI MS 7309 V1, utilizing OEM components) – will it accommodate a graphics card? Thank you once more.

I strongly recommend exploring this: https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri. It effectively analyzes your computer’s hardware and provides guidance regarding compatibility with various programs.
