Here’s the rewritten text:

I'm experiencing performance issues in games, specifically Rainbow Six Siege, compared to a friend’s setup. He has an AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (16GB RAM) with an RTX 2080, achieving around 160fps on max settings, while I have an AMD Ryzen 7 1700 (24GB RAM) with an RTX 2080 Super. My frame rate drops to 60fps on max settings. My GPU is running significantly hotter than his.

I suspect my CPU might be bottlenecking the GPU. Should I upgrade to a Ryzen 7 1700X or 2700 (staying with AMD for streaming and budget considerations)? Also, could my 600W power supply be inadequate? And is there a possibility my RTX 2080 Super is faulty? Finally, could poor airflow within my PC case (Sharkoon VG5-W) be contributing to the overheating and performance issues?

That’s a comprehensive explanation! It seems like the key takeaway is that for optimal performance with dual-channel memory, you need two identical RAM modules. A single module won't leverage the benefit of dual-channel architecture. The number of RAM modules doesn't inherently affect performance; it's about having pairs to maximize bandwidth.

and exact on what it is not using it full potential?
full system spec? include make and model of the psu
cpu/gpu temp during load.

Here’s a rewritten version of the text, aiming for clarity and conciseness:

“This system delivers smooth gaming performance with an AMD Ryzen 7 1700 processor (3.4 GHz), 24GB of Ballistix RAM, and an NVIDIA RTX 2080 Super graphics card. During testing, the CPU consistently reached 90% utilization while the GPU remained at approximately 30%, even under load, with temperatures below 40°C.

Here’s a rewritten version of the text, aiming for clarity and conciseness:

“The system appears to be running optimally with updated drivers and software. Memory is configured correctly – mixed RAM at the same speed and brand as recommended. The SSD has ample free space (approximately 60GB) currently, allowing for smooth operation. The game launches through Steam, which then utilizes Uplay to initiate the game.”

This response demonstrates a potential issue with computer memory configuration. Specifically, a system might be configured with insufficient RAM to properly run demanding applications. This can lead to noticeable slowdowns or instability within the operating system and running programs. To remedy this, it's recommended to configure the system with a higher capacity of RAM, such as 8GB plus 8GB, instead of the currently mismatched configuration which may result in reduced overall performance.

16GB+8GB will run in single channel mode (or flex mode, if supported). This reduces ram performance.
Your friend is most likely running in dual channel mode.
Ryzen cpus are very sensitive to ram config.
