Details: MoBo; Asus Tuf b550m-PLUS CPU: Ryzen 3700X GPU: GTX 1070 RAM: 32GB hyperX; 3600mHz OS: Windows 10 Pro. Let me elaborate on the problem and explain why I didn’t mention it earlier in the network section. The sequence becomes clearer when playing games, but it can also occur while browsing or chatting on Discord. During a Valorant session (similar in other titles), my PC freezes abruptly for a few seconds, dropping to around 1 to 2 frames per second. The most striking part is the audio behavior—within those two seconds it attempts to play all sounds back in at once, making them extremely loud. After that, the Windows sound for a USB device disconnecting plays, yet I can still control my mouse and keyboard. The internet suddenly cuts out, but the modem lights still show a connection. When I disconnect the Ethernet cable from the modem to my PC, I can access the internet on my phone, indicating the problem lies with the PC itself, not my network. Restarting the PC leaves it stuck on a screen showing rotating dots with "shutting down" text; I must press the power button to force it off. All this leads me to suspect a motherboard issue. I’ve tried updating drivers, checked CPU temperatures (peaking at 89°C, max allowed 95°C), and GPU temps were lower. Even simple web browsing shouldn’t cause such high heat, so I disabled overclocking on CPU and RAM. Please let me know if this has been discussed before or if I missed something.
AMD motherboards sometimes face USB problems, but the latest BIOS updates should resolve them. Occasionally, the USB controller fails to work properly, causing devices to disconnect and sometimes struggling to reset. Look for a newer BIOS version compatible with your board.
Yes, I forgot to note that too. Last week the BIOS version/date was 2423, October 8, 2021.
I’m thinking about purchasing a new motherboard now, even though there have been problems with USB. I haven’t noticed anyone talking about internet issues with it before.
