My computer slows down during games once you've played for about 20 minutes
Hello, I've been facing an issue that's affecting my gaming sessions. After playing for 15 to 20 minutes, the game tends to lag, then after about 30 seconds it returns to normal but quickly goes back into a laggy state once again. I'm looking for any assistance.
Here are my PC specifications:
- GPU: RX 3060 12GB
- CPU: Ryzen 5 4500
- Motherboard: B550
- RAM: 16GB DDR4 at 3200MHz single channel
I also have a video showing the lag, sorry if it's posted on GD.
Hey there,
It seems the CPU is overheating, which causes lag. When the CPU speed drops to 400mhz, the GPU performance jumps. Are all your system drivers current, including the chipset? Have you used DDU to remove and reinstall your GPU driver? What BIOS version are you using on the motherboard? Is your RAM enabled in XMP mode?
Do you keep track of the temperatures?
How much space is available on your storage drive?
What kind of power source are you using?
I suspect a temperature problem might be leading to performance limits. Are you maintaining the PC by removing dust regularly?
Would you like to know if there are many things active when the system starts or if it runs quietly in the background?
Are the RAM sticks synchronized in timing and has the 'XMP' feature activated?
The only other thing I question is the GameMax power supply. It isn't particularly impressive by itself. What's its age?
And using a single channel would definitely lead to problems on a gaming PC.
