My computer needs several tries to start Windows.
I assembled my pc in September 2023 and during those initial weeks, it would repeatedly boot into BIOS approximately once a week. It took around three tries to finally get it running as Windows, though upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 didn’t resolve the problem at first. Now, after a year, the issue has reduced to about once a month. Whenever this happens, I notice the message "no boot device found".
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.
the only attempt I have made to fix the issue was upgrading to windows 11 from windows 10.
Using the internal upgrade path? if so, you're advised to reinstall the OS, after recreating your bootable USB installer for Windows 11.
(like new refurbished from amazon)
Refurbished items are often items that are faulty but can't be fixed nor exhibit the anomaly at will. People don't know how to fix it and in the process can't send it back to the board maker for repair so they're sold off to clear inventory. Another way of looking at it would be that the board's warranty was claimed, the replacement came through and this board looked fine without any physical damage but the issue reported by prior customer was impossible to recreate.
