My gaming PC has begun experiencing sudden, unexplained shutdowns while playing demanding titles such as Ark, ATLAS, Rainbow Six Siege, Fortnite, Rust, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. The issue arises during gameplay – when I’m actively immersed in a game, performance is typically excellent. However, approximately 3 to 5 minutes into the session, my computer will abruptly power off without any prior warning or notification. Upon restarting, there are also no accompanying messages. I’ve attempted various troubleshooting steps and haven't found a solution.

I have:

* Investigated numerous online resources, but none have resolved the problem.
* Adjusted my GPU clock speeds both by underclocking and overclocking.
* Reduced the maximum power supplied to my CPU to 65%.
* Reinstalled my PC entirely (this provided a temporary fix lasting only one day before the issue returned, repeated three times).
* Verified that all drivers and software are up to date.

My system specifications include:

* Motherboard: ROG STRIX x470-f Gaming
* Power Supply Unit: AX1200 Corsair (This unit is quite old, approximately six years old.)
* Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3700M
* Graphics Card: EVGA 1080 SC
* Memory: 16GB GSKILL RIPJAWS DDR4 2133
* Storage: NVMe 75GB SSD, OCZ-VERTEX3 MI HDD
* Monitors: LG Ultra HD 4k (1080p at 59Hz), SAMSUNG U28E590 4k (1080p at 60Hz)
* Cooling: Four 200mm fans, two GPU fans, one CPU fan, one 120mm rear fan
* Temperatures:

* Idle: CPU – 39°C, Load – 2%, Clock – 4k MHz; GPU – 54°C, Load – 0%, Clock – 1.8k MHz
* Gaming: CPU – 53°C, Load – 25%, Clock – 4k MHz; GPU – 58°C, Load – 80%, Clock – 1.9k MHz

I built this computer from new components in February of 2018. I am willing to provide additional details if needed. Thank you for any assistance you can offer!

Edit: I recently discovered HWMonitor and have included screenshots to aid in the diagnosis.

I concur, a replacement power supply is needed. Power supplies degrade over time and with use, and this appears to be malfunctioning.

Replace your electrical unit; it’s not working correctly, and your temperature readings are satisfactory.

I am anxiously awaiting a prompt response from this group. I'm experiencing a very similar issue right now, and I’ve recently replaced my power supply unit with a 1000-watt model, yet I’m still encountering restarts. Did XXbonz find a solution by changing their power supply? Was swapping the PSU successful for you?

I'm leaning towards suspecting the motherboard. I’ve experienced numerous unstable Ryzen boards over the last eighteen months.
