Hi,
I recently upgraded my CPU and memory two weeks ago. Everything worked fine for a couple of days, but then the system started crashing randomly. I checked temperatures—CPU reached up to 90°C during stress tests, while gaming stayed around 70°C, and the GPU was also near 70°C. It seems the issue isn’t software-related, as the computer also crashes in memtest, though RAM appears fine since it worked before. Windows shows a kernel power 41 error but no other events in Event Viewer. I updated the BIOS to the latest version, but nothing changed. I decided to replace the PSU because it’s aging (bought in 2018) and still reboots occasionally. The problem occurs sometimes while gaming and also during idle periods.

PC Specs:
- CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 with stock cooler
- MB: Aorus B550M Elite
- RAM: 2x8GB of HyperX 2666MHz
- GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1070Ti
- Storage: 256GB NVMe SSD, 4TB HDD
- PSU: EVGA B5 750W (previously EVGA BT 450W)

Anyone has a solution I’d appreciate. Thanks.

Just because your memory solution performed well with your old setup doesn't guarantee it will with your new hardware.
Your memory solution might not be compatible with your current motherboard. That's why top manufacturers such as G.Skill, Corsair and Crucial maintain their own compatibility charts based on specific motherboard models. They also provide their own QVL or qualified vendor lists, which detail which kits have been tested and confirmed to function properly on your particular board.
It doesn't mean every DDR4 kit will work on any board—two identical kits can differ in ranks, rows, chip types, and timings, leading to compatibility issues.
Variations in the number of ranks, memory chips, and sometimes timing settings can all influence whether a kit functions correctly.
I can be certain that many Ryzen boards have specific requirements and may not run smoothly or at all with certain HyperX memory solutions. The same applies to several Corsair Vengeance LPX kits. While I can't confirm this for you, it's definitely something to consider because Ryzen is quite particular about memory compatibility.
What matters most is whether you performed a clean Windows installation after switching platforms (CPU and motherboard) and what your previous CPU and board were. A clean install is often essential since it removes old drivers and software that could cause conflicts. It's not always required, but it's usually recommended to reset the BIOS completely if needed.
Updating the BIOS alone isn't always sufficient; some settings can persist. Trying steps like disconnecting the CMOS battery, holding the power button for a short time, and then reconfiguring your BIOS can sometimes resolve persistent issues.
It's also possible that the motherboard itself has a fault or the graphics card is failing due to age and wear. Are you noticing 'kernal power 41' issues again? This is commonly linked to power supply problems, often from the PSU. Also, have you reinstalled Windows after replacing the motherboard or CPU? It’s definitely something to address.

Thanks for the feedback! To be honest, my memory kit isn't listed in the motherboard QVL, but I did notice the RAM was a bit dusty—I might clean it later and see if it helps.
I performed a clean install twice, reset the BIOS multiple times, but nothing changed. I got a GT310 from an old computer, so maybe I'll give that a try too.
Dudio : yes, it still shows the same error. I'm not sure it's only related to the PSU since I just replaced it today. Still, I reinstalled it.

I’ve heard that Super Flower might have been reintegrated for the B5 and some newer EVGA models, after they initially removed it despite its generally strong performance in Super Flower units. While I haven’t found any reviews confirming this, it’s hard to say for sure. Still, having both units operate similarly seems improbable. It could happen, but it’s unlikely.

You’re sure you performed a "CLEAN" installation? This isn’t just a simple reinstall or refresh—it’s a complete reset.

The issue with restoring images on laptops and prebuilt OEM systems is that it also reintroduces all the preinstalled bloatware. We’ve noticed many cases where brand new systems struggle because they carry large amounts of unnecessary software, making them appear infected with malware when they’re actually just cluttered with useless optimizations and bundled programs.

I always advise a clean install if there’s any doubt about the best path forward. This applies every time Microsoft releases a significant update. Microsoft hasn’t consistently handled upgrades or major updates smoothly, leaving many problems behind. Often, new issues emerge after the update, making it wise to skip the process whenever possible—or at least before it’s necessary.

Keeping the system updated by simply upgrading or reinstalling factory software often just repeats the same issues from the start. I’d never let a machine run beyond two major updates without a clean install of the latest Windows ISO.
