My PC has been experiencing frequent crashes, freezes, and automatic restarts (limited to Windows itself, not the entire system), along with disorganized desktop icons upon startup. Approximately one week ago, I began noticing unusual behavior while casually watching YouTube and playing Roblox when my computer suddenly blue-screened with the error “THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.” Throughout the following week, this occurred two or three times daily. After a second blue screen event, I encountered a complete freeze where I was unable to interact with the screen. A restart resolved the issue temporarily. Subsequently, another blue screen appeared, displaying the error "KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED." I researched these errors online and discovered the need to enter safe mode and update my internet driver, which successfully halted the restarting and blue-screening. I had previously disabled the “automatically restart” setting to prevent further restarts. During this time, I attempted to play games like Fortnite or Apex Legends – I’m unsure which one – and while it was loading, I left to get a drink, returning to find the screen locked, indicating another restart. I suspect this is when I disabled the automatic restart feature. Following this, I investigated the problem and now we're here. I performed a memory diagnostic test, revealing no errors. The next morning, while attempting to play Apex Legends, the PC froze immediately. I’ve repeatedly tried launching Fortnite and Apex since then without success. I also ran Malwarebytes to scan for viruses, which ironically made my computer even slower. Considering this build cost nearly $1000, these issues are unacceptable. Furthermore, every time I perform a full restart (saving all data), the desktop icons rearrange themselves, consistently placing an empty square in the bottom left corner.

Have you completed the installation of any external libraries, including updating DirectX and installing all necessary Visual C++ Redistributables? Verify the installation directory for a third-party folder – if present, execute all applicable setup programs to ensure nothing was overlooked. Confirm that your firewall isn't preventing the anti-cheat from functioning correctly. Also, verify that your antivirus software isn’t blocking any components.

The occurrences of THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED and KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED suggest possible problems with your memory. Utilize the Memtest86+ tool to check for errors that may appear during its execution.
