We recently connected an Ethernet cable from our modem/router to the family computer. The PC accesses the internet without issues, but Modern Warfare 2 fails to connect to IWNet (no modifications required—just standard CoD). I’ve reset the router, powered off the machine, and am now re-downloading MW2. It functions perfectly on my personal device, yet not on the family computer, and I’m sharing my Steam library with my brother. Some online discussions suggested adjusting router settings, but I’m unsure what those steps entail (though I can interpret warnings about DMZ). I can reach and log into the router from my own machine using its IP address, but that’s all I feel confident about. The router model is an Arris TG862, and the computer runs Windows 7 on a non-static IP address. From what I understand, it isn’t a firewall problem (the PC firewall is unknown, the router’s status unclear), though I haven’t checked McAfee yet—only the Windows firewall.

A fixed IP address is required for proper functionality.

It seems you're experiencing an issue, but it appears to be a strong reaction. Let me know how I can assist further.
