I just upgraded to Surface version 1803. The tracks I added to Groove Mix are labeled "unknown album" and "unknown artist." On my PC (still running version 1709), everything works perfectly. I tried resetting the Groove Music settings, but it didn’t help. Others with the same issue are experiencing the same problem. It might be related to the update or another factor.

I also received the update, so it seems it might be another issue.

Attempting to modify metadata results in a blank entry. Updates occur separately for each app, not tied to Windows 10 releases. Visit the Store app, select "..." then "Download and Updates," and choose "Get Updates" to obtain the newest versions.

The issue was a micro SD card fault. I reformatted it and copied my music again—it functioned properly now.

You're experiencing the same problem with your SD card, even though it seems fine. The music plays partially, but not fully. It's possible formatting issues or compatibility problems are affecting playback.

I resolved the issue by restarting Groove Music. In the Start Menu, right-click it, select Settings, and move to the 'Reset' option.
