My build includes an AMD Ryzen 5800X with a 360mm air cooler, paired with an MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM at 3000MHz. It comes with a 1200W Platinum PSU from Thermaltake. My motherboard supports x570 chipset and has four SSDs (two NVMe, two SATA) plus two HDDs, running Windows 11. Previously, my setup looked good: a 27-inch 1440p at 155Hz, a 28-inch 4K at 60Hz, two 1080p at 60Hz, and a 24-inch 1080p at 155Hz. The 27-inch 4K at 144Hz worked too, but the one at 160Hz didn’t because my motherboard doesn’t support it. I also used HDR on the 1.4a display. Now the 1080p monitor won’t show unless I turn off the 1440p one. Even lowering its resolution or refresh rate doesn’t fix it. It’s detected in Windows, but whenever I try to extend the display, it just reverts before I can save or revert. I’ve tried DDU, fresh drivers, different cables, firmware updates, and even switched to a cooler monitor (CoolerMaster GP27U). Still, nothing seems to work. I’m unsure what I’m missing. Could the 3090 be limiting this? I also noticed that when I power off and restart, the colors become washed out or overly bright—something I can adjust in Nvidia Control Panel. Recently, after reinstalling drivers and going into safe mode, the issue resurfaced, with the last monitor showing the same problem. It’s frustrating; I’m not sure what to do next. Thanks for any advice!

I discovered this discussion that could help clarify things… it seems I’m running out of time because the pixel count isn’t adding up. But maybe you’ve exceeded the total pixel limit or combined resolution? https://forums.evga.com/Multiple-monitor...31900.aspx What format are you using? If it’s 10-bit, could you lower it to 8-bit? Nvidia’s official site lists the maximum combined resolution as 7680x4320. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/gra...90-3090ti/ but there are conflicting reports online—some claim 3 monitors at 4K plus 1440p. https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments...t/iszsvv1/ It’s a bit confusing, honestly. [Just a guess, have you tried rearranging the cable connections on the GPU? Probably won’t help, but that’s the simplest suggestion I got.] What does “+DSC” refer to in this context? [Interesting note—my experience shows the 3090’s specs explain multi-monitor limits and refresh rates more clearly than Nvidia’s page.]

They mentioned on their site that the GPU supports up to 7680 x 4320 resolution. That’s a pretty high standard back then, even if it was pushing limits. Swapping your 1920x1080 screen for a 2560x1440 one and adding a 4K display is definitely making the card work harder than expected. I’d suggest skipping the fourth monitor altogether. It might have finished your build, but it seems you were aiming for higher refresh rates and extra 4K options. Stick with the three monitors you have, and keep the old 1080p screen as a backup or give it to someone else. TL;dr Your card is already hitting its digital limit—remove that fourth one.
