Hello everyone, could someone recommend the ideal Wi-Fi antenna setup for best coverage? I own an Alfa Wi-Fi adapter with two antennas and want to know the optimal positioning for maximum signal during scanning and testing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It remains consistent with the description—it's designed to work from any angle and mainly depends on proximity to other Wi-Fi devices. If the equipment is on a different level, you need to adjust the antenna horizontally. This explanation was updated on February 15, 2019 by Guest.

I noticed the antennas are 7dBi each, meaning they’re directional and emit over a wide range. You want them fixed in one spot without moving them—what’s the best approach? Thanks!

You have a balanced setup with both devices on another floor. It’s not too much to adjust, especially if you’re doing pentesting. The radiation pattern of a classic omni antenna should look like this. If you have three units, even a slight change would be helpful—place one vertically, one diagonally, and the third horizontally. This arrangement is mainly for connectivity purposes and not ideal for pentesting.

For maximum access points, keep both antennas upright. Positioning them at a 45-degree angle from the center doesn't maximize coverage effectively.
