After a few days gathering components, I think I’ve assembled a solid PC. The toughest challenge was finding a suitable CPU fan that leaves enough space for RAM. I’m concerned about assembling it myself since I work long hours—might need help from someone else. Should I be able to update the BIOS using a USB stick even after the CPU is installed? I’m worried everything will be ready but the system won’t power on, leaving me stuck. Is the CPU cooler I chose adequate? Does the RAM have proper clearance? Are there any overheating issues? My case is a Planteks Eclipse P500 Air ATX with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X eight-core processor, without a cooler motherboard. I’m using an MSI MAG X570 TOMAHAWK Wi-Fi ATX board, an AMD X570 chipset (AM4), a Corsair HX850 850W 80 PLUS Platinum certified power supply, G.SKILL TRIDENT Z NEO 32GB RAM kit, a Samsung980 PRO 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD, and a Noctua NH-D15S dual radiator cooler.
Without a GPU, nothing will appear. And indeed, the board does feature a BIOS flashback.
Yes, your board is compatible with that. You can use an empty USB stick with the right BIOS—according to MSI’s site, at least 7C84v14 is needed for the 5800X, but a newer version with resizable BAR support for the RX 6000 is available. Just flash the BIOS through the BIOS button. The manual has basic steps, but many YouTube tutorials clarify the process better. If you prefer quiet operation, it might be too much effort. I’d choose an NH-U14S personally, but the decision depends on your needs. As far as I know, the D15 works with a Trident Z series, though the RGB won’t be visible clearly and you’ll need to install RAM first.
I'm still worried about picking the right CPU cooler. The one I chose won't display my RAM's RGB colors, but the NH-U14S should. What sets these coolers apart?
