I’m seeking guidance on an issue that’s been persistent for years and affected many users. My setup includes the Msi pro Z690 A DDR4 CPU, Intel I5 12600k, GPU from Zotac 3060ti, SSD from Samsung SSD980 TB, a PSU from Corsair Rm 750, and RAM from Kingston Fury 3600. It originally worked smoothly during Friday nights of gaming, but now everything has gone dark. Initially, the white VGA light appeared with a black display and one white dash. After updating the BIOS and flashing it, the system briefly flashed red before shutting down. Now I see only a black screen with the VGA light still on. When I power it on, the monitor turns on from standby but remains completely black. The HDMI logo appears in the top left, yet the display stays off. I’ve tried cleaning all components, reapplying thermal paste, resetting BIOS multiple times, and even swapping the GPU and power cable. Still no video output from the GPU or any ports. I’m at a loss and would appreciate any advice or suggestions to resolve this.
What cooler are you employing? An unusual boot problem might stem from improper alignment or inconsistent force applied, as these boards/sockets can warp over time. A useful test would be to power on the PC in a different position. Risers may also malfunction. Do you have any replacement components available? Also, do you possess an alternative display? If neither the built-in unit nor your graphics card is functional, it’s likely the graphics card isn’t the issue.
He uses the Arctic liquid freezer 2 as his cooler. The PC was assembled about two years ago, according to me, and it’s functioning perfectly—no issues with power. I’ve tested RAM, GPU, and M.2 SSD all correctly, but couldn’t test the CPU or motherboard since my system is an AMD build. After posting, I discovered the machine would shut down by pressing the power button or simply turning it off at the wall. It seems the PSU or motherboard might be the problem. The PC has clearly been neglected.
We also took out the CPU verification—it looked completely fine, nothing was bent or misplaced.
