I notice many users facing issues with MSI motherboards failing to power up and seeming inactive. Replacing the CR2032 button cell appears to resolve the issue. If the voltage is below 2.5 volts, this could be the cause. This might also apply to other brands.

Most solutions don't work universally. Often swapping the CMOS battery only restores it if it's truly dead.

It fixed your board problem, but the old MSI boards had no issues with the CMOS battery—only the MSI logo appeared on them.

we also refer to this as resetting the bios. i’d swap out any faulty bios battery that’s below 3v—replace it with a 3.3v unit. if it doesn’t work, there are many affordable options with insufficient voltage.

This statement highlights the importance of a functioning CMOS battery. Having a dead or weak battery can prevent a computer from turning on properly. I'm familiar with this issue due to my experience repairing computers for more than three decades.

Interesting... I've been doing this since 1996, so I might not know much. But I switched to building servers a while back, and datacenters are still around.

I hope the next time you receive a device without power, you’ll modify or inspect the battery!
