MSI Mag Tomahawk x670e CPU light red, no solution available
My recent PC experienced flickering on the screen during games. I attempted to fix it by using an older GPU and DDU to remove outdated drivers. After uninstalling the old drivers and powering off the machine (using the single button on DDU), I noticed a red light on the CPU. Despite several attempts—replacing RAM, SSD, clearing CMOS by shorting pins, cleaning and reinserting the CPU, checking cables, even trying a different PSU—I still couldn’t resolve the issue. Here’s what I’ve done so far: I plugged back in the graphics card, removed RAM and SSD, but the red light persisted. When I took the CPU out, cleaned the paste, and reinserted it fully, the red light stayed. I also tried connecting the PSU to another power source and outlet, but it didn’t help. I followed some steps from the manual, like resetting CMOS, but nothing changed. The motherboard didn’t show any error when no RAM was connected, only the CPU light. This situation is part of a previous discussion where a community member assisted me. I even tried using a different PSU (Corsair Rm850x) and moved the PC to another outlet, but the red light remained. I’m running out of time and considering sending it to a repair shop. It might point to a faulty motherboard or CPU, especially since the board is refurbished and I suspect damaged pins. I’ve attached photos of the CPU and socket for reference. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! – Edited February 20, 2025 by thesilverderp
You've handled the issue well so far. I suggest removing the device from the case and testing it on a different machine. If the CPU indicator remains, it's likely the motherboard is damaged and you may need to return it for repair.
