Using either port or both ports wouldn't change the actual connection speeds to the router.

Your switch has a maximum of 1 Gbps, so the type of connection you use on your motherboard doesn't change that limit. You can connect both ports at once to potentially boost speeds. In theory, this works through channel bundling, but it would require both the server and clients to have two connections each, each sending at 1 Gbps for a combined total of 2 Gbps.
