MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk experiences freezing during BIOS setup.
I'm experiencing strange freezing problems when trying to access BIOS settings. Windows works fine before and after troubleshooting steps. I can set an XMP profile, but anything else freezes. I've updated the BIOS, reset CMOS, used a different keyboard, changed USB ports, switched monitors, tried RAM swaps, and even used XMP with F10 to save. Only clicking XMP and pressing F10 works without freezing. I'm looking for advice before starting the RMA process.
It might be a simple issue with the mouse, perhaps the developers didn’t fully implement keyboard shortcuts. There aren’t any problems beyond the BIOS, but the system freezes when accessing it. I’d suggest a corrupted BIOS, though you claim it’s been updated, which would be challenging if it was truly damaged.
Mouse control was my first method before switching to keyboard navigation. It was fully operable both ways previously. I opted for the bios flash option rather than struggling with the bios settings. I performed a CMOS reset before and after the flash. Since then, I've tried the newest BIOS and then the latest again. Confusing.
I own the identical board, and I’m able to move through the BIOS via both keyboard and mouse without issues. This leads me to think the hardware might be faulty or the newest BIOS release could be causing problems. My system runs on 7C91vAA.
I attempted several BIOS updates and successfully flashed them without problems, but freezing continues when exiting the EZ main menu. I'm considering filing a return merchandise authorization because it's not resolving the issue inside Windows. Appreciate your time!
