Hello everyone
I have an MSI GTX 1060 Gaming with a 6GB graphics card. I'm using the newest NVIDIA drivers, the MSI gaming app, and Afterburner.
I’m not able to overclock the card.

The card’s clock settings are:
Boost Clock / Base Clock / Memory Frequency
1809 MHz / 1594 MHz / 8100 MHz (OC Mode)
1784 MHz / 1569 MHz / 8000 MHz (Gaming Mode)
1708 MHz / 1506 MHz / 8000 MHz (Silent Mode)
6144 MB GDDR5

When I open the MSI gaming app, I see three clock modes: OC, gaming, and silent. Choosing any of them doesn’t seem to make a difference.

I also use CPU ID and Afterburner (both together and separately) to monitor temperatures and clock details.
In Afterburner, when I try to set higher clock or memory values (different ones), nothing changes.
The maximum values I see are:
Clock stays at 1785 MHz
Memory stays at 4095

(This happens even when I run games like Battlefield 1 at ultra settings.)

When I play at 1920x1080p with Ultra settings, the max values are:
Clock reaches 2012
Memory remains at 4095

This occurs even without any overclocking or changes.

WHEREAS
I’m not able to overclock my card here.
Please help me understand why.
Thanks.

Have you attempted to manually increase the clock speed with MSI Afterburner? For mining purposes, I recommend doing it yourself with MSI Afterburner.

So today I attempted to use Afterburner and it's functioning properly!
I didn't update any drivers, install any software, or remove anything. My PC hasn't been shut down for days.
It seems the overclocking is working fine.
I'm currently using Afterburner with a stable temperature of 62°C, core at +202°C and 2062MHz, memory at +500°C and 4303MHz.
I haven't played much yet, but I'll keep this setting for a while and try higher values later.
Hoping it won't stop the overclocking automatically like it did initially.
I plan to post an update after 2-3 days for thread closure.

Sorry for being late.
The latest update shows overclocking isn’t functioning again!
Applying new settings to the core N memory clock only raises the memory clock, while the core remains stuck at its previous value.
Previously, I could overclock it for about 1.5 to 2 days before it crashed. After trying various lower values, it sometimes worked and other times crashed, even with slightly higher numbers. Now it doesn’t work at all.
It seems the game automatically overclocks again (same as in my original post).
This time I ran the game, checked the clock values with Afterburner, minimized the game, and ran mining, but the clock didn’t reach the value I see during the game—it only goes up to 1569 MHz. In contrast, during gaming it reaches over 18 GHz.
The memory clock while gaming is 4007 MHz.
I can change the memory clock anytime.
One thing I added (in case it helps): the memory usage during gaming is about 4900 MB, and during mining it’s around 1650 MHz (GPU at 100% for both gaming and mining).
I’m not sure what’s happening or what’s causing this. Any idea what might be going on?

I faced the same problem. The solution was to remove the MSI Gaming APP. It was preventing the core clock speed from changing or staying at its default value set in the app. After uninstalling it, MSI After Burner could override the core speed normally.
