Hello!
i have a question that kinda worries me ive read around forums and sites that some people say its a bad idea to overclock gtx 1050 gpus cus they may fry pcie slot my question is is this true? i have this card
https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForc...GT-LP.html
and i overclocked it with +150 mhz on core clock and +500 on memory clock played alot did benchmarks never had a problem on max load gpu can go to 75-76 celsius max which i think its perfectly fine temp if anyone can answer if what they say is true and if i should return it to stocks will be great thanks in advance
Just like when you purchased a L-P card, I wondered if you might have a slimline PC rather than a mini tower. Consider trying HWifo—it should display GPU power in the GPU section, showing current, average, and maximum values. Also, MSI Afterburner seems to offer an OSD feature for real-time power monitoring. However, I'm confident the GTX 1050 will throttle significantly before reaching over 75W.
As long as your OC doesn't push the card beyond the 75W limit set for the PCIe x16 port, it's fine. The system you're using is suitable. Also, I think it's unlikely you could overclock the GTX 1050 to achieve that. It usually runs at around 60W.
Hello, your PC specs are Intel Pentium G3260 with 3.3GHz, 8GB RAM, DDR3, a 280PS PSU, and a 500GB HDD on the motherboard. I don’t really know how to check if you’re hitting the 75W limit. Also, the voltage control slider in MSI seems disabled, but your card might have restrictions even without adjusting it.
