Hi, I own a MSI GeForce GT 730 LP DDR3 2GB video card, not a gaming model. I’m curious about its compatibility with older games. It’s passive cooled with just a heatsink. I recently played Fallout New Vegas and noticed my temperature rising to around 75 degrees, so I stopped the game. My concern is, if the GeForce GT730 chip GK208 reaches 98 degrees, what will happen if I keep playing older titles? I’m not interested in new games, but I was achieving over 70 frames per second in Fallout New Vegas. I’d like to know if using this card would damage older games and if there’s any way to install a fan.

Usually, the 730 benefits from some airflow through the case fans. It's not much, but it helps. If your PC appears like this image, could it be that the case isn't providing enough airflow?

The 730 should get some airflow from the case fans, though it will be minimal. If your PC appears in the image provided, it may indicate a restricted airflow issue. I played several games last night for extended periods, with temperatures reaching around 77°C and not rising further. I’ll keep monitoring it, as it was hot during gameplay. If it continues to get warmer, I’ll replace the original fan with a more efficient one. However, I’m confident it should be okay. Mostly older games and mainly using the graphics card for 4K videos or movies.

Update: I plan to use this card only for 4K movies due to limited airflow and the risk of overheating. Thanks for the advice!
