Can someone explain why the MSI gaming app requests a restart to switch to OC mode, especially since it didn’t do this on your previous PC?

Do you own an MSI motherboard? I believe it might be overclocking the CPU as well, which is why it restarts. This seems like a feature they introduced in later versions of the software without informing users. I used to stop using it for some time because my original CPU cooler couldn't handle it.

I just realized with v5.0.0.27 that you might be able to remove or add the CPU from the OC settings by clicking the arrow icon next to it. There don't appear to be official instructions from MSI regarding the app, so I'm relying on my own experience.

Numerous software applications require adjustments, but you must manually restart to apply them. It's more effective to perform original equipment manufacturing (OCing) and similar tasks within the BIOS instead of relying on these standard programs—they usually operate at excess voltage levels.

Tradesman1 explains that while some software updates are made, you need to restart physically to apply them. It's better to perform the update in the BIOS yourself instead of using these generic programs, which often use higher voltages than necessary. They also mention confusion about why the app suddenly started asking for changes, noting it didn't work on their old PC.

Generic applications might behave variably across various devices, making it a significant concern to avoid them

Do you own an MSI motherboard? I believe it might be overclocking the CPU as well, which is why it reboots. This seems to be a feature added in later versions of the software without prior notification. I stopped using it for some time because my original CPU cooler wasn't able to handle it.

I just realized with version 5.0.0.27 that you might be able to remove or add the CPU from the OC selection by clicking the arrow icon next to it.

There don’t appear to be clear instructions from MSI regarding the app, so I’m relying on my own experience.

That’s the information I was seeking. Could you clarify how to add or remove the CPU from the OC section? I don’t see those options in my gaming app. Thanks!
