MSI GAMING 6G Downclocking
MSI GAMING 6G Downclocking
hello, i noticed a problem when overclocking my msi 980ti. it consistently downclocks even though it's running at 1505mhz in firestrike with kboost enabled. the benchmark shows it dropping to 1455mhz instead. is there a way to prevent this from happening? the power limit is set at 109%. thank you in advance.
What temperature are you hitting? Maxwell begins to "boost" at approximately 63 degrees, which is quite high.
the performance reaches 71c during firestrike overclocking
it's a problem because the kingpin 980ti i also have and it doesn't seem to be impacted by this issue
maybe i'm mistaken but i think even the first BIOS on the kingpin is custom, which could explain why it's fine
have you tried using KBoost in EVGA Precision? this forces the clocks to run at maximum, i'm not sure if it stops the "downboosting" but it might be worth a shot
be cautious with this setting and ensure you close other programs like MSI Afterburner as they'll likely conflict
Delper_10 expresses disappointment about the card's overclocking performance, noting it falls short compared to expectations. They plan to return the items and exchange them for two others, believing they are fortunate since their unit only drops to 15Mhz.
