MSI error 62
MSI error 62
I assembled a new personal computer for the first time, so please forgive any obvious answers. My setup includes a Ryzen 3950x, an MSI X570 Creation motherboard, an Nvidia 2070 Super Hyper X graphics card, NVMe RAM, and a hard drive. When powering on, I encounter error 62, which seems linked to the GPU connection. I've tested two slots but still get the same issue. Removing the graphics card resolves error D6, as expected since there are no integrated graphics. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Error 62 indicates the PCH Runtime Services installation. The BIOS may not support the CPU or GPU, so an update is required before starting the machine.
You’ve reviewed the BIOS updates on MSI and noticed they don’t reference GPU changes. The board’s listing says it supports Ryzen 3000, but the serial number suggests it was made after the update was released. That might mean a patch is needed. Thanks for checking, Emosun!
You set up a CPU and GPU that worked before the BIOS change. It’s hard to tell exactly why it’s failing now—it’s a common issue with vague error messages.
Great job getting to B2! I believe a BIOS update might help with the issue. I’ve placed an order for a CPU with built-in graphics, which should make the fix easier. Thanks for your support—I’ll let you know once I try it out.
I reviewed the board page to verify CPU compatibility with the earliest BIOS release.
I wasn't able to locate a resource that connects a specific bios to compatible parts, though it confirms the CPU works with the board. Could you point me toward a reliable reference? Your question is helpful!
Hi, I'm reaching out for anyone who might help. With my MSI X299 Creator, the code 62 appeared and the PC wouldn't boot properly—just restarted after several attempts. After testing, it became clear that the PSU Corsair AX1200i wasn't delivering enough power, even though it was two months old. Corsair mentioned it might not work with all boards, but a replacement PSU seems to fix the issue. Thanks for your time!
