MSI B650 TOMAHAWK vs MSI B650 Edge
MSI B650 TOMAHAWK vs MSI B650 Edge
Hello, I’m setting up a new gaming system and already have some components like the RTX 3080ti, Corsair 1000W, Corsair Airflow 4000D, and Noctua NH-U14S. I’m considering getting a Ryzen 7600X for a Black Friday deal in Canada, which is listed at $289 CAD. My main concern is choosing the right motherboard: MSI B650 TOMAHAWK or MSI B650 Edge. The Tomahawk is selling for $269 with a $20 coupon, bringing it to $249, while the Edge costs $299. I noticed the Tomahawk doesn’t have a Gen5 SSD, which might not matter now but could be a regret later if I want a future-proof build. The Edge offers better RAM speed potential with dual 16GB sticks at 5600/6000 MHz, and both MOBO models should handle it equally at 1DPC speeds. What do you think? Any other options you’d recommend? Thanks!
This situation hasn't been the same for quite some time. Many 16GB modules have stayed at the top tier for years, and with DDR5 all 16GB sticks are now single rank. It doesn't really impact performance much. Speeds over 6400MT/s aren't practical on AM5 outside of a few cases, so I mentioned it. I'd likely choose the Tomahawk if it was in the two-to-five range, but realistically I wouldn't pick either option. Right now, the TUF B650-Plus is available for $243 on Amazon.ca, and I'd prefer that board if it helps me save some money. It also includes a Gen 5 M.2 slot if that matters to you.
Looking for a solid RAM option? Both Corsair Vengeance and G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo are great fits—both support 2x16GB, 6000 MHz speeds, and EXPO. Pick whichever matches your build best!
Looking for a budget-friendly 2x16GB 6000 CL30/32 rated storage solution. The cheapest option available in Canada is the TeamGroup T-force Delta RGB 32GB 2x16GB DDR5 memory module. You can find it here: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/WFVm...00hc30dc01
