MSI B650 Tomahawk equipped with WiFi and AMD 7800 X3D experiencing unstable startup.
Hello everyone, I'm working with an MSI B650 Tomahawk WIFI board paired with an AMD 7800 X3D chipset. The system ran smoothly for about four months until last week. It shut down unexpectedly and attempted a reboot, but the process failed—no POST appeared and the DRAM LED stayed on. After waiting roughly ten to fifteen minutes without improvement, I powered it off and turned it back on. Still, it didn't boot. I then disassembled the case, testing various configurations. Swapping RAM sticks helped, as did removing the GPU and one memory module. Eventually, using a different stick resolved the issue. After reinstalling the BIOS update, the system started working again. A reboot followed by a yellow light caused another crash, but after resetting it, everything functioned properly for several hours. Now I’m considering sending it back in for repair, thinking it might be the main problem. I’m also wondering if other parts could be affected by these power hiccups. Have anyone experienced similar issues with this board and CPU combo? Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!
I own the same board but with a 9800X3D (BIOS enabled via BIOS) and two 16GB G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB/DDR5 5600 units (AMD Expo, EXPO activated in BIOS), along with the most recent BIOS updates for the motherboard and AMD chipset. The problem seems consistent—when I install certain software or programs and restart, the PC freezes and refuses to reboot. After rebooting from Windows, it behaves similarly: the RGB stays on while the HDD indicator stays blinking. I have to press the power button down on the case until the machine shuts off, then press again to restart, and everything works fine. Are you looking for a solution to this issue?
