Recently I shifted my setup from microATX to ITX, mainly for a change of scenery and to upgrade the case quality. While doing that, I faced an issue with my previous components. On my old board (AB350M DS3H), I was using a Ryzen 5 2600 @4.0 with auto+0.2V and two 8GB Hynix CJR 3000C16 chips at 3200MHz. It ran at 1.4V. On my new board, the CPU can now be overclocked to [email protected], but my memory stays stuck at XMP limits. I can't find the right settings from before or the safe timings in Ryzen DRAM Calc—they just won’t show up, and I even need to clear CMOS after trying to boot. The system fails to reach 2133 and just goes black. I thought an ITX form factor would allow better memory support since it uses a single slot per channel, but it didn’t work out the way I expected.

Running the BIOS from the board, which isn't shown on MSI's site but appears to be a recent version, such as E7A40AMS.ABO dated 11/12/2019. It looks similar to 7A40vAB released on the same day.

7A40vAB appears as the newest entry on MSI's site with identical release timing. XMP functions correctly but only recognizes profiles 2800 and 2933; entering custom XMP settings for 3000 manually is necessary.

Because you're blending zen with CPU, they’re famous for poor performance. It feels like you've just missed the silicon prize, unfortunately.

It's not true—I managed to hit 3200C16 on my older board using identical hardware. That board was really bad. The same timing here is a complete no-go.

I'll attempt it—hard to say it’ll make much difference because getting into the BIOS during OC is tricky, but it’s worth trying.
