MSI B450 Tomahawk Max supports high voltage stock settings.
Hey everyone, just wrapped up setting up a friend's PC with a Ryzen 5 3600 and the mentioned motherboard. Temperatures were quite high both when running and when idle, so I checked the voltage settings. The default Vcore was around 1.45V. After undervolting, full load temps dropped to about 55°C without any performance drops. Curious why MSI includes such high voltages in their BIOS?
I performed Cinebench tests between runs. No score drops were noticed, suggesting stable performance. The stock system didn’t reach full load temperatures; fans increased significantly, prompting a voltage reduction. Now it operates at 0.25V lower, which I find substantial. The cooler is robust enough to prevent overheating. I used a beQuiet! Shadow Rock 2 with 180W TDP, which should deliver strong cooling for the CPU.
