Hi Everyone, I’m looking for some advice. I have an MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC motherboard with the following setup: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Six Core 4.2GHz (AM4 socket), two Corsair Vengeance 8GB 3200Mhz DDR4 RAM tuned for AMD Ryzen GeForce RTX 2070 Super EX gaming, a 8192MB GDDR6 PCIe graphics card. It’s only been a few months, and everything seems fine until recently. After turning it on for a while, it stops powering up completely. The EZ Debug LED stays lit when I power it on, then turns off and the display shows no signal or blank data. No keyboard or mouse indicators appear. It just remains unresponsive. After leaving it for a while, I can sometimes get it to restart by changing the memory settings, which shows a recovery message, but it keeps doing that after rebooting. If I manage to get it running, it stays on indefinitely. The board appears to have built-in display and HDMI ports, but the manual doesn’t mention how to disable them. Could they be interfering? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your message. I noticed you switched to the newest BIOS version, which is November 2019. After updating, it functioned during a few restarts but then stopped working after a restart, leaving only a blank screen. I attempted to clear the CMOS by shorting a jumper, but it didn’t make a difference. Could you confirm if the CMOS is cleared correctly? The instructions suggest using a jumper while the system is off and the power cable unplugged.
I've made a change to the BIOS using the flashback tool. I rolled back from version 7B85v1B (2019-11-13) to 7B85v17, released on 2019-07-10. After the rollback, the system now boots more reliably, though it still takes some time from a blank screen to POST. Rebooting from Windows doesn't work, but shutting it down and then restarting allows it to boot eventually. Also, in Windows login, the screen goes to sleep quickly when idle—about 30 to 45 seconds—unless you move the mouse. I checked the power settings, but they're set to 10 minutes of inactivity before turning off. I'm not sure why that is.
