Checking compatibility between your B450 and the upcoming Ryzen 5000 series is possible with just a BIOS update. You shouldn’t need to replace the motherboard. Your current BIOS update should still work for the new CPUs. Regarding USB, it’s not strictly necessary unless you plan to use external peripherals.

MSI assured to launch updates for 5000 series chips on every B450 motherboard. Just verify the chipset drivers and BIOS are current before purchasing.

MSI promised support for 400 series chipset, though the bios might come out in january 2021, so there's a little waiting afaik, you can update bios with a file in your hard disk as long as you have a CPU that can already run on it correct me if im wrong
