Msi amd build failing to post.
Hey there, I’m trying to figure out what’s going on with my build. It stopped working after a shutdown, and I’ve been using it for two years now. Performance stayed solid, but the temps are consistently high—around 70°C for both CPU and GPU, sometimes hitting 60°C. I usually reboot daily to prevent memory issues, but recently I shut it down to move the PC to another room. The motherboard debug lights are red for the CPU and orange for RAM, and they’ve stayed on forever.
I ran through every RAM stick in each slot, fully reseated everything, applied thermal paste, checked all pins, removed all cables except power and HDMI, took out my GPU, and tried it again. I even flashed the NVMe drives with different BIOS versions from MSI and tested them using the back button flash. Still, the debug lights are on, and I can’t get any keyboard input into BIOS. No performance drops, but nothing’s working as expected.
I’m pretty sure there’s something wrong, but I don’t see any signs of a CPU or RAM problem. Maybe the motherboard itself is damaged? I’d love to hear any suggestions from others who might have faced similar issues. Thanks!
I noticed you wanted to avoid swapping components while testing RAM and CPU. You'll be evaluating them on a friend's setup with identical CPUs but a different 32GB configuration.
