Hello everyone, it's a great day! I'm preparing for a PC upgrade that includes swapping my motherboard from X370 to Z790. My Windows version is an OEM NSPC license, and I don't want to purchase another copy or use pirated software on the new machine. Can I move the existing Windows license over? The current setup will need to be taken offline.

It should function, possibly requiring a reactivation. Alternatively, you can go to a major reseller and purchase a Windows key priced between $2 and $15. Keys for versions 7, 8, 8.1, 10, or 11 will work without problems.

I spoke with Microsoft today about this problem; they said it should work 50/50 since it isn't tied to the manufacturer.
