I recently purchased a new Chromebook and wanted to learn how to move photos and videos from my iPhone. I found online instructions that suggested using a USB cable connection. After plugging the cable in, the device connected properly. I accessed it through the bottom-right corner menu, which displayed read-only options. When I tried to share files, the app prompted permission settings, which I enabled. Now I see many folders and files appear, but clicking on them doesn’t open any photos. I’m unsure why this happens and how to transfer them to Google Drive via Gmail. Any advice would be helpful?

Not uploading directly to Drive might cause issues with file access or compatibility.

From your iPhone? If you do that, and attempt to download the photos on your Chromebook and check them out, wouldn’t you struggle to see them? I’d also like to view the photos on your Chromebook too.

You can check them for free—why not? If you're just starting with driving, you might be a bit lost. You can explore them either online or on your device if you save the files.

You can access the downloaded photos directly from your device without needing to open them in a browser. The format remains consistent whether you save them locally or upload them to Google Drive, so the files should work with the default image viewer on your Chromebook. Simply view the pictures using the native app or browser on your device.

I set up a fresh Google account on my iPhone, installed the Google Photos app, and uploaded all my images and videos. After that, I switched to a Chromebook using the new account and accessed Google Photos. You can view the photos directly from the app. When you download them onto your Chromebook, they won’t open automatically. Since these files are in HEIC format, you might want to use an online converter to change them to JPEG before opening. For bulk conversions, there are tools available that handle large sets of photos at once.
