Moving from AMD to Intel means adopting their processors instead of those from AMD.
Hello, I'm trying to upgrade from an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X to an Intel i5 12600K. I've switched to an Intel motherboard and replaced the drives, but I'm still having issues loading my PC. I'm using the same storage as before and just need some guidance. I don't want to format the drives when the system restarts, so could you help me by removing the AMD software and files from the only directory that contains them? Thank you very much!
What storage options do you have? Do you use a dedicated boot drive, separate data drives, or everything on a single drive?
Consider a fix if you can't return to the earlier AMD setup. Generate a USB installation file using the Microsoft utility and then restore with the option to preserve files and programs. Should that not work, attempt a reinstall using just the keep files choice. Alternatively, perform a clean install on a different storage device—disconnect the other drives temporarily for safety. Unless you structure the drive, it won’t reformat by itself. With TPM active, you might face some issues, though a direct AMD to Intel conversion works without problems.
