Movement controls stutter during gameplay
Movement controls stutter during gameplay
Hello,
recently I encountered an issue while gaming: pressing movement keys such as W or S causes the character to stutter, as if repeatedly tapping the key instead of holding it down. Notably, when I press two keys together—like W and A—the game moves normally. If I release one key, the character continues moving, but if I only press one key, the stutter resumes, making the game difficult to play.
Important points:
My PC runs all my games smoothly, with FPS consistently above 40. It is a Ryzen 5600X / AMD RX6600 system, built about six months ago.
The problem has appeared recently and has been observed in GTA V, RDR2, and Watch Dogs 2. I played RDR2 previously without this issue, so it seems to be a new development.
My keyboard is a wired Gamdias Ares from 2017. I attempted remapping, but the problem persists, suggesting a mechanical rather than software cause. The repeat rate in the Control Panel works fine.
Based on these details, I suspect a recent Windows or driver update might be responsible. I use Windows 10 Home edition. There are some forum discussions about this issue, but no solution has worked for me yet.
What can I do? Thanks in advance!
I’d check to determine if the issue occurs with another PC using KB or within the same PC, and observe if the results match. Either approach would help identify whether it’s the PC or the KB that causes the problem.
Hi there, Colif!
I brought my office keyboard home today just to check it out, and wow, everything is working perfectly! It turns out my keyboard was the problem all along... I wasn't expecting that, but I'm relieved it's not a Windows issue. Maybe it's time to replace it – this one has been with me for five years, which is pretty impressive for such an affordable device...
Thanks for your help!
