the mouse cable became stretched because it was stuck under the monitor stand, and I didn't notice until I pulled on it while gaming. the cable seemed fine outside, and the mouse worked properly without any connection issues. however, a friend mentioned the possibility of damage affecting latency or performance. could the cable get damaged in a way that makes the mouse slower? it still seems to function, but it's something to consider.

If it's functioning, it's doing so. By now you should have already observed a change, and the mouse appears to be operating correctly.
