You can find alternatives on GitHub, and it seems Gnome once included a Caffeine component that only acted as a mouse jiggle.
Based on the information from the link, you can turn off suspend using caffeine. It works for Full Screen apps and can be turned back on manually. For GNOME it’s reliable, though it’s marked as unmaintained with a recent update. For KDE Plasma there are several options including a plugin from GitHub. Budgie now includes a built-in caffeine applet, and there’s a Caffeine NG repository available. The approach seems to be a general solution that I haven’t tried personally.
