Hi everyone. My PC runs Windows 10, is fully updated, has a 9900K CPU, RTX4070 TI SUPER GPU on a GIGABYTE Z390 AORUS MASTER board. It operated smoothly until yesterday. Then, while playing Fortnite, the mouse began to lag and eventually made the game unusable. My first thought was to quit the game, restart the PC, and see if it recovered. That didn’t work. I then removed the USB controller devices via Device Manager and reset the machine, but the issue lingered. I updated the GPU driver to the latest version, checked keyboard and mouse settings, tried different wired mice connected through various USB ports, and even changed USB connections on the motherboard. Still, the stuttering persisted. No changes were made to system settings beforehand. Windows updates and game updates occur normally, yet this problem appeared out of nowhere during a Fortnite session. I’m at a loss for solutions and would really appreciate any advice you can offer. Thanks in advance.

Check if the problem is specific to Fortnite. If so, it's Fortnite. Do you have this setting turned on? If yes, remove and disable it in BIOS. This is why I'm asking since with Z390 and Asus Armoury Crate, my PC would lag and perform poorly.

Thank you for your time. The video isn't installed and the system settings don't match what was shown. As mentioned in my first message, the issue began during a Fortnite game, but even after restarting, no changes helped. It seems unlikely it's related to Fortnite, or at least not the root cause. It might just be a coincidence that it started there. I'm still unsure how to fix it.

Did you verify the temperatures? Download Hwinfo64 and operate in sensors-only mode during playback. You'll be able to review the readings afterward.

DoctorNick confirmed your concerns. All possible causes have been reviewed and verified. As you mentioned before, nothing was altered before the issue appeared while playing Fortnite. Once it happened, it remained there despite closing the game, resetting, updating Windows, and more. It’s completely unclear to me why this sudden problem occurred. The temperature hasn’t changed or gotten worse at any point before the issue started. I also double-checked the hardware, making sure everything was correctly installed.
