How to install an old Windows XP backup (v2i file, Norton Ghost) on a virtual machine in Windows 10? I discovered a 2007 backup of my high school Windows XP system—likely created with Norton Ghost. I’m curious to relive those memories and access everything. I imagine there are some funny or awkward MSN chats from back then. Getting the original PC back as a functional OS sounds great, but I’m stuck on the setup. Anyone have any advice? I’m not very tech-savvy and haven’t found a safe Norton Ghost download. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!

The file extension could be .iso or .img. If it’s .iso, you should be able to use it as a virtual optical drive in Windows 10. For .img files, I think you can also mount them similarly, though I’m not familiar with handling them directly.

All the information I've found suggests using Norton Ghost to access the file. It seems a trial version might be accessible, or perhaps it's no longer available.

I don’t have access to specific virus-free sources for v2i files. You may want to check official documentation or trusted repositories for the latest, safe versions.

Yes, it’s possible to run this on a virtual Windows XP machine. Edit: I located a Norton Ghost version and explored the C drive, though it only showed clean Windows folders. There were old MSN installations, but no documents. Sorry—I was expecting some personal files from my past. It appears to be a brand-new setup now.
