I installed an MSI MPG Z690 Carbon Wifi board with a Core i5 13600KF since December 2022. The BIOS was updated until January 2023. My GPU is an Asus ROG Strix LC RTX 3080 Ti. I’m using a Corsair Obsidian 1000D case that supports 21 fans with three radiators. All 21 ARGB fans are installed, plus some extra RGB strips. Everything functions perfectly. About a week ago I swapped the board for another Asus Rog Strix Z690-E Gaming Wifi. The new motherboard had BIOS updates but caused RAM compatibility problems. I tested G.Skill D5 (5600MHz) RAM but couldn’t run two sticks simultaneously, regardless of slot (A1, A2, B1, B2). It worked with one stick but the speed was stuck at 4000MHz. With XMP enabled, the BIOS showed 5600MHz, yet Windows and software displayed 4000MHz. I also tried Kingston Fury D5 (6000MHz), but the same issue occurred. After reinstalling the OS W10 Pro, nothing changed. The RGB and ARGB ports worked fine on the Asus board. I reverted to the previous MSI board. Before booting, I updated the BIOS via the motherboard’s rear USB (BIOS updater). When trying to boot, everything except RGB/ARGB failed. I searched online for fixes—bios rollback, CMOS reset, port checks, OS setup, physical switch changes—but nothing resolved it. Now I’m unsure what’s wrong. If I change the board, should I? Do you think there’s a solution to this problem? Please advise!
