Hi everyone, I’m confirming my understanding before proceeding with any purchases. I have two machines—one running Windows 7 and the other Windows 10. I plan to upgrade both. The Windows 10 system will receive a new motherboard, while the Windows 7 one might need a used board (ATX AM3+ to fit the FX8350, which is only for light tasks). Regarding licenses, do I really need two separate ones? Also, transferring the ATX board from Windows 10 to Windows 7 isn’t possible due to space constraints.
It depends on whether you have an OEM or retail Windows license. Type cmd, go left, press enter, then type Slmgr /dli and press enter again to find out if your version is OEM or retail. The Windows 10 retail license can be moved to another computer, but the OEM license is tied to one PC and cannot be transferred.
