motherboard problems X570 AORUS ELITE Wi-Fi freezing
I own this motherboard and frequently encounter lockups. When it freezes, time seems to stop—currently at 1:02 PM, it halted at 12:50. I've swapped out memory and power supply, reinserted the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G with Radeon Graphics 3.80 GHz, and installed Windows 10 Pro. I've also reloaded the OS multiple times without success. Any advice?
You’ve checked other systems and liked their setups. AMD usually requires updated BIOS on the motherboard. Are you also using the same iGPU model?
I'm using the latest BIOS versions. Both configurations function well on other boards. I've got two brand-new power supplies—different manufacturers.
Have you considered swapping out the CMOS battery? It supplies power to the internal clock frequently. The clock is a hardware part on the motherboard, yet this suggests it works but is slightly faulty. I think the timing circuits are so basic that any issue would completely disable them.
Recently, I completed a full overhaul of the cooling system to ensure everything functions properly. All readings remain within expected ranges, even during increased demand.
It’s clear now what’s happening. The timing issue seems odd. If replacing the battery doesn’t solve it, the motherboard might be faulty. I’m not sure. Perhaps a fresh install would help before spending a lot (those batteries are actually the least expensive part). The battery’s job is to maintain power during outages. There could be corrosion inside—this is pretty basic, so I’m questioning whether the device is still receiving power. Edited July 22, 2022 by Bombastinator
