36 gigs installed seems fine, but I’m maxing out on my 290x. It’s not clear if the premium version is worth it unless you’re a fan—it’s definitely one of the most visually appealing games I’ve seen so far. I’m not a big MK fan and don’t play it often; I only load it occasionally when I’m bored.
I wouldn't suggest it to anyone at the moment. The game is decent, but the porting quality remains low. Still, it looks like the developers are making improvements and are working on fixes. Just keep an eye on it for about two months—unless you're a dedicated fan, you might have missed some missing animations before fight saves, and there are still performance concerns.
