Monster Hunter Wilds Beta performance
Monster Hunter Wilds Beta performance
you're enjoying the beta? optimization isn't quite what I hoped for, but I'm still relying on copium 5800x with 32gb ram, 3600mhz gigabyte, 3070 8gb ssd. it lets me play at medium settings around 50 fps with DLSS enabled and balanced performance. the game runs smoother on PS5, though that might just be because I can see the FPS counter on my PC. on AMD, FSR gives me about 80 fps, but there are some strange artifacts near the edges and on monster wounds—definitely a downside. i'd love to collect more data, so please share your experiences!
60fps... standard and mid options work well, sometimes drops to around 57fps, but I didn't disable VSync (I'm using fast sync). You won't even notice the lower frame rate—it feels very smooth. Also, this is still in beta, so you shouldn't expect flawless performance. The Steam users complaining are pretty funny... "Oh, I need to adjust...!" That's a bit scary. Trying performance mode looks fine for me. Fun fact: even with 8GB VRAM it wasn't enough; it could easily hit 16-20GB, which explains why this isn't much different. I'm already at 6.7GB with low/med settings, so it's probably just Denuvo. The game ran poorly until the developers removed it, then it worked surprisingly well.
MHWilds remains in early testing and is probably not fully optimized. A RTX 3090, 5950X, 64GB RAM, and Gen 4 SSD only achieve 60-70fps with DLSS at 1080p Ultra, dropping to 40-60fps without it. I saw someone using a 5800X and 7900XTX achieving 241 fps. I hope Capcom improves this or we’ll rely on the modding community, just like in MHWorld.
It gets tough stepping into a lobby. My frame rate dropped from around 52fps to 70fps elsewhere, suggesting the issue isn’t the engine but the network code. Even at 52fps it felt a bit sluggish, more like a slowdown than smoothness. In other titles, 52fps feels unplayable—like a lollipop chainsaw at that speed. I found a setting that pushed it to 58fps, which was fine. For the PS3 version, rePOP works well at 60fps. Generally, keeping VRAM under 8GB helped, and enabling the mod improved performance by about 20-30%. Still, the game demands around 20GB with maximum settings and HD textures.
This might be especially true for this game. I completed a hunt and thought it ran smoothly. The replay showed 55-70 fps, which wasn’t flawless but overall solid. It felt better on lower settings, though it’s not much worse at higher ones—definitely odd. The visuals look much sharper on high/max than low, but I think you’d prefer medium settings here, especially with the lighting effects.
Thanks for the thorough answers! Yes, practicing more at around 45 FPS keeps things smooth without any sudden jumps or issues, so I'm still in good shape. I'll upgrade early before I need to, since I can really use it when I get a chance to play something enjoyable.
I tried the game with a blend of high-low mid configurations, DLSS, Nvidia Reflex, no boost. It ran mostly at 60fps and played well without noticeable issues—no glitches apparent. Probably the main problem is that it's RE engine, which isn't ideal for open-world titles, though it works here. I'm not sure this will make a big difference, especially with the 241fps screenshot I took... The safest option seems to be using mods.
