This could indicate a faulty cable or connection issue. The small lines you noticed appear when turning the monitor on after being off for some time. Over time they've increased in visibility, covering half the screen. They disappear after 30-45 minutes, but the cause remains unclear. Keeping the monitor powered on isn't feasible either; it seems the problem is specific to your operating system.

The simplest initial troubleshooting would involve testing another cable and/or screen.

It might relate to BIOS operating at a lower resolution compared to the Windows OS. Could you share your monitor's resolution and the connection type (DisplayPort or HDMI)?

Consider getting a fresh DP cable first, though I was double-checking to make sure I hadn’t missed something. It’s hard not to realize how costly my hobby can get.

The issue vanished when you adjusted the refresh rate in the Nvidia display settings. 144Hz 1080p screen output works now.

If you have another screen or TV nearby, I’d start there. I usually go with the free methods first.

Lack a separate screen with DisplayPort capability, and the HDMI connection here only supports 60Hz.

Your monitor's refresh rate and the drop you experience are key details. The DP cable appears to be a standard type rather than a premium brand, which helps narrow down the issue to the cable itself. Even with HDMI, this suggests the problem likely lies with the cable or monitor rather than the GPU or overall PC performance.

The cable was included with my Sceptre monitor. At 144Hz it works fine, but when the frequency drops to around 80-100Hz it becomes unstable.

It might be related to a DispPort Cable or a driver problem with Nvidia. A fresh driver installation and adjusting the refresh rate through Windows could help. It’s unclear if it’s a G-sync monitor, but testing turning it on/off may resolve the issue. The most likely solution is replacing the DP/Cable.
