I'm dealing with a strange problem on my modern AMD system. It's not affecting normal tasks like gaming or browsing, but sometimes the whole PC freezes and stops responding. RGBs, applications, and sounds all hang or become unresponsive. The OS itself becomes sluggish, and actions like pressing Alt+Tab or the Windows key take only a few seconds before failing. Typing stops completely afterward. After that, the sound disappears regardless of what's playing. The PC eventually freezes entirely, leaving only the mouse functional. This issue appears intermittently—first when a webpage fails to load or a link doesn't respond. Then the system becomes unresponsive, and features like the start menu only work briefly. After a short while, I'm stuck with a hanging machine that responds only to the mouse. It worsens during internet use or streaming, but improved temporarily after a BIOS update for my 5800X3D. Reverting back to the previous BIOS version and reloading settings didn't help. I'm running out of options. Could be a motherboard fault, Windows problem, or even a faulty boot drive? No clear reports of ongoing issues. A recent Windows update has made things worse. The build details are available if you need them.
Discussing your process for reaching this RAM configuration. Would removing the smaller modules affect system stability?
Running both kits together proved challenging despite their shared 3600 MHz rating. Windows initially blocked POST at the full speed, so I reduced it to 3200MHz for smoother operation. Running them together still works, though performance remains limited. I followed your suggestion after seeing a similar solution, but the PC’s instability persists.
