My PC, equipped with an RTX 2080 Super and Ryzen 7 3800x, runs Modern Warfare at 1440p on maximum settings without frame rate issues since launch. However, recently I encountered significant graphical problems that render the game unplayable. These issues manifest as large flashes of light appearing around my screen’s edges, obstructing substantial portions and then disappearing only to reappear. These flashes are visually disruptive and negatively impact the gameplay experience. I have attempted various settings adjustments, including disabling all on-screen overlays, without success. This behavior is particularly perplexing and visually concerning. The menu display further indicates a rendering problem with the borders, which does not resemble standard screen glare.

Has the GPU driver been updated? It appears a new NVIDIA feature has been activated.

A driver update occurred that day, and while it didn't disrupt other functions, I’m puzzled by this.

It's possible for it to disrupt a single game. I’m running a 2080 Super with the latest drivers and experienced two random game crashes in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Perhaps that is true. It’s strange because I've experienced the “big flashing lights” error in previous games, but not in all of them or with all drivers.

It is conceivable, though an alternative explanation remains possible.

Reinstalling graphics drivers made it worse, and restoring NVIDIA panel settings didn’t help. I'm likely going to reinstall the entire game.

I will attempt to revert to a previous version of the device driver.

If this fails, I will attempt another solution. It is concerning that I cannot locate anyone else online experiencing the same problem. I have found no images resembling my issue, and it has deteriorated since I took those initial photographs. Now the screen flashes intermittently, making it difficult to view content. This issue is not present in any other application or within the computer’s interface.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the game resolved it to a playable state. I will tentatively label this bug “fixed,” although it persists slightly. Considering Activision’s involvement, I'm concluding the issue is their responsibility and moving on. Thank you.
